We could not find a source for the "restocks on Sundays" and "restocks on Mondays" claims this post used to carry, so we removed them.

When Do Retail Stores Restock Sports Cards?
There is no published answer. None of the retailer pages above lists a restock day or a restock schedule for trading cards.
One reason is that the store often does not stock the shelf itself. MJ Holding describes itself as the largest North American distributor of trading cards, covering gaming, sports and entertainment cards. It says it handles "initial distribution, replenishment, and merchandising" for its retail partners and serves more than 7,000 retail store locations across the United States and Canada. When a distributor handles replenishment, store staff may not be the ones who fill the card shelf.
What that means for you:
- Restock days vary by store. A day that works at one location tells you nothing about the next one.
- Ask at your store which day the card shelf is usually filled.

When Does Walmart Restock Sports Cards?
Walmart does not publish a restock day for baseball cards, football cards or any other trading cards, so the day varies by store.
What is on the record is who has supplied the shelf. MJ Holding's company history lists trading card distribution at Meijer and Walmart starting in December 2000, and it says later acquisitions increased its distribution within Walmart stores across the USA.
How to Find Cards in Stock
- Check the retailer's site first. Target's trading card page lets you filter by "in stores" and "buy online & pick up." GameStop shows free store pickup on trading cards.
- Know the release date. Look up the product in our release calendar so you know what is new.
- Ask your store. Ask which day the trading card shelf is usually filled at that location.
- Know the format you want. Retail stores carry different boxes than card shops do. The next section covers them.
What Retail Stores Carry
Retail stores sell retail formats. Hobby boxes are sold through card shops and hobby channels and usually contain guaranteed hits. Retail formats are cheaper per pack and often have exclusive parallels, with fewer or no guaranteed hits. We compare them in hobby box vs retail.
Topps' own box guide for 2025 Topps Chrome Football, dated April 15, 2026, shows what the retail formats look like for one product:
- Value box: seven packs of four cards, with retail-exclusive parallels.
- Hanger box: a single pack of 20 cards, with Pulsar parallels.
- Mega box: seven packs of six cards, with X-Fractor parallels.
Contents change with every product, so read the box before you buy. On October 6, 2026, Target's page listed both mega boxes and value boxes.
