When Is the 2026 Topps Update Release Date?
Topps lists October 14, 2026 as the release date for 2026 Topps Update Series Baseball. The date appears on the topps.com pages for the Hobby Box, Jumbo Box and Value Box, and the Topps release calendar lists the set under Wednesday, October 14, 2026.

What Is Topps Update Series?
Topps describes Update Series as the annual finale of its Flagship baseball line, the third installment after Series 1 and Series 2. In Topps' description, it captures the mid-season trades, rookie call-ups, All-Star moments and milestone achievements that Series 1 and Series 2 can't fully anticipate.
According to Topps, the product traces back to "Traded" subsets that debuted in 1974 and returned in 1976, followed by a 132-card Topps Traded boxed set in 1981. In 2005 the product was rebranded as Topps Updates & Highlights and shifted to a pack-based release, which became the modern Topps Update Series.
The 2026 edition rounds out Topps' year-long celebration of the 75th anniversary of Topps Baseball. Topps calls it the final Flagship release of the year, with a checklist that captures in-season call-ups, players in new uniforms following trades, and memorable moments from across the season.
2026 Topps Update Box Formats
Topps Ripped's box guide lists four formats: Hobby, Hobby Jumbo, Value Box and Fanatics Box. The guide describes the Fanatics Box as new for 2026.
| Format | Pack configuration | Listed box content | Format exclusives |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hobby | 12 cards per pack. Topps.com lists 20 packs per box. Topps Ripped's box guide says 21. | One autograph or relic card per box | Hobby-exclusive parallels, from Purple, Blue and Green Rainbow Foil down to a one-of-one Foilfractor |
| Hobby Jumbo | 40 cards per pack. Topps.com lists 10 packs per box. Topps Ripped's box guide says 12. | One autograph card and one relic card per box | HTA Base Card Sandglitter parallel, with Gold, Orange, Black and Red Sandglitter tiers |
| Value Box | 12 cards per pack, 6 packs per box | Three Value Box Exclusive Holiday Base Card parallels per box | Holiday parallel designs: Jack O'Lantern, Ghost, Mummy, Black Cat, Witches Hat and Bats |
| Fanatics Box | 12 cards per pack, 8 packs per box | Ten base cards, one insert and one exclusive parallel in every pack | Topps Logo Foil Pattern parallel and Fanatics Authentics Memorabilia redemptions |
Three notes on the table:
- The pack counts conflict. Topps' product pages and Topps Ripped's box guide disagree on packs per box for both hobby formats, so we list both numbers instead of picking one. Check the box or the seller's listing before you plan around a pack count.
- Two names for the 40-card packs. On topps.com the format with 40 cards per pack is listed as the Jumbo Box. The Ripped guide calls its 40-card format Hobby Jumbo.
- Jumbo relic swap. The Ripped guide says the relic card in a Hobby Jumbo box can be replaced with an additional autograph card.
The guide also says Hobby and Hobby Jumbo boxes include 1991 Topps Baseball Chrome Base Cards, and that the Hobby box gives collectors a shot at Refractor and Superfractor parallels.
What to Chase in 2026 Topps Update
The base set is 350 cards. Topps says it features today's biggest MLB stars, top rookies and Future Stars, that every card carries the Topps 75th Anniversary logo, and that the set is headlined by Season Highlights cards of Pete Crow-Armstrong and Shohei Ohtani.
Under "First Flagship Rookies," the Ripped box guide lists JJ Wetherholt, Kevin McGonigle, Carson Benge, Justin Crawford, Travis Bazzana and Konnor Griffin.
Inserts and variations
The descriptions below are Topps' own.

We are not listing pull odds. The Topps pages we used for this post do not give them.
Which 2026 Topps Update Box Should You Buy?
Topps Ripped's box guide gives its own answer by collecting style:
- Hobby: for a signed or relic card with the widest parallel range.
- Hobby Jumbo: for an autograph card and a relic card in the same box, plus the exclusive Sandglitter parallel.
- Value Box: for set builders looking for an accessible, seasonal box.
- Fanatics Box: for collectors who want a parallel in every pack.
That is Topps' guidance, not ours. If you are new to the formats, our hobby box vs retail guide covers the difference between hobby and retail boxes.
Breaking Topps Update on Stream?
If you run card breaks, we suggest putting the per-box content in your listing as Topps lists it: one autograph or relic card in a Hobby box, and one autograph card and one relic card in a Jumbo box. Because Topps has published two different pack counts for each hobby format, we would also count the packs on camera before you start.
Our Custom Sports Card Break Mats are 4 mm thick neoprene with an anti-slip backing and hemmed edges. Each mat is printed with your logo, and the print covers the full surface. They come in three sizes: 12 x 18, 12 x 22 and 16 x 32 inches. You can see the rest of our custom card breaker supplies or browse our baseball cards collection.
